Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
R2B Training & Consultancy
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
1. Purpose
This policy sets out R2B Training & Consultancy’s approach to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our own activities and in our supply chains.
It explains our commitments, the steps we take, and how concerns can be raised.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
-
all R2B staff, associates and contractors
-
all R2B training and consultancy activities
-
our direct suppliers of goods and services, where this is within our influence
It covers the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in:
-
our own operations
-
our immediate supply chains (for example, venues, IT and software services, professional services, freelance associates)
3. Our business and risk profile
R2B is a specialist training and consultancy provider operating primarily in the UK.
Our work is mainly:
-
design and delivery of training courses, workshops and consultancy
-
office‑based and home‑based professional work
-
online and in‑person delivery at client or hired venues
Our supply chains are relatively small and primarily UK‑based, including:
-
venue providers and occasional catering
-
IT, software and website services
-
professional services (for example, accountancy, legal, design and printing)
-
freelance trainers and consultants
Based on the nature and location of our work, we consider the overall risk of modern slavery within our own operations to be low. However, we recognise that modern slavery can occur in any sector and we remain vigilant.
4. Our commitment
R2B Training & Consultancy:
-
is opposed to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking
-
is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships
-
will take reasonable steps to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in our own business or in our direct supply chains
We expect the same high standards from our suppliers, associates and partners.
5. Relevant legislation and guidance
This policy reflects the aims and spirit of:
-
Modern Slavery Act 2015
-
Human Rights Act 1998
-
Equality Act 2010
It should be read alongside:
-
Code of Conduct Policy
-
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
-
Data Protection Policy (GDPR)
-
Safeguarding and Safer Working (Adults) Policy
-
Complaints and Concerns Policy
6. Due diligence in our own operations
Within our own business, R2B will:
-
ensure that working arrangements for staff, associates and contractors are lawful and fair
-
pay fairly for work carried out, in line with contractual agreements and legal requirements
-
carry out right to work checks where required
-
avoid entering into or continuing relationships where we know, or have strong reason to suspect, that modern slavery or human trafficking may be taking place
-
keep our approach under review as the business grows or changes
7. Working with suppliers and partners
When selecting and working with suppliers and partners, R2B will:
-
favour reputable suppliers who follow UK employment law and good practice
-
expect suppliers to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 where it applies to them
-
expect suppliers to take reasonable steps to prevent modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains
-
raise concerns with suppliers if we become aware of potential risks related to labour exploitation, human trafficking or unsafe working conditions
Where a supplier or partner is found, or reasonably suspected, to be involved in modern slavery and fails to take appropriate corrective action, R2B may review and, if necessary, end the business relationship.
8. Indicators of modern slavery
Staff, associates and contractors should be aware of possible indicators of modern slavery, which may include:
-
individuals who appear to be under the control or instruction of others
-
signs of fear, anxiety, distress or inability to speak without another person present
-
very poor living or working conditions
-
restricted freedom of movement or communication
-
signs that wages are being withheld, or people are working to pay off a debt
This list is not exhaustive.
If something feels wrong, or if there is a concern about exploitation, it should be raised.
9. Raising concerns
We encourage anyone working with or for R2B who has concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking in our operations or supply chains to raise these concerns as soon as possible.
Concerns can be raised by contacting:
-
Email: admin@r2b.uk
-
Telephone: 07935 837 937
We will:
-
take concerns seriously
-
consider appropriate steps, which may include seeking more information, raising issues with suppliers, or reporting to relevant authorities
-
keep information as confidential as reasonably possible, while recognising that we may need to share details with enforcement bodies or other agencies if we report a concern
Anyone can also raise concerns directly with the police or the UK Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline.
10. Information sharing and confidentiality
Where concerns relate to potential modern slavery or human trafficking, information may need to be shared with relevant agencies, such as:
-
the police
-
the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA)
-
local authority safeguarding teams
Information will be shared:
-
lawfully and proportionately
-
only with those who need to know
-
in line with data protection law
The protection of potential victims and the prevention of serious crime will take priority over confidentiality where there is a conflict.
11. Training and awareness
Given R2B’s size and risk profile, awareness activity will be proportionate but may include:
-
making this policy available to staff and associates
-
including modern slavery awareness in induction or periodic updates
-
highlighting key indicators of modern slavery to those involved in procurement or supplier management
We will review training and awareness needs as our business or risk profile changes.
12. Roles and responsibilities
Business owner / leadership:
-
lead on implementing this policy
-
ensure procurement and supplier relationships reflect our commitments
-
respond to concerns or allegations related to modern slavery
Staff, associates and contractors:
-
act ethically in line with this policy and our Code of Conduct
-
be alert to indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking
-
report any concerns promptly
Suppliers and partners:
-
are expected to act in accordance with this policy, and with applicable modern slavery legislation.
13. Monitoring and review
R2B will:
-
review this policy at least annually, or sooner if there are significant changes in law or guidance
-
reflect on any concerns raised or relevant incidents and update our approach as needed
-
consider modern slavery risks when reviewing procurement and supplier relationships
We will continue to develop our approach as our business and supply chains evolve.
