Capture what was said, seen and done in a way that will stand up months or years later, under cross‑examination as well as internal review. This course is for investigators and enforcement officers working in non‑police regulatory and enforcement roles who rely on contemporaneous notes, particularly those enforcing regulatory regimes.

Across the day, we focus on the realities of note taking in busy, pressured environments. You will practise recording events in real time, organising your notebook so it tells a clear story, and making later additions or corrections in a way that remains transparent and defensible. We will also look at how joint notes and shared records are managed so that authorship, timing and accuracy can be explained with confidence.

Using practical exercises, the course shows how notebook entries underpin professional witness statements and explain your investigative rationale. Whether you are new to investigative note taking or refining long‑standing habits, you will leave with practical methods to produce records that support enforcement and prosecution.
