Code of Conduct Policy

1. Purpose

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of everyone representing or engaging with R2B Training & Consultancy.


It explains how we expect staff, associates, contractors, clients and participants to act so that our work is safe, professional, respectful and lawful.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • all R2B staff, associates and contractors

  • all training and consultancy activities delivered by R2B, in person and online

  • all interactions connected to R2B work, including email, messaging, social media and events

It sits alongside policies such as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, Trans Inclusion and Gender Identity Policy, Safeguarding and Safer Working (Adults) Policy, Modern Slavery Policy, Data Protection (GDPR) Policy, Complaints and Concerns Policy and Accessibility Statement.

3. Core principles

Everyone acting on behalf of, or participating in, R2B activities is expected to:

  • act with integrity, honesty and professionalism

  • treat others with dignity, courtesy and respect

  • comply with relevant laws, regulations and professional standards

  • uphold R2B’s commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding

  • avoid behaviour that could damage trust in R2B or harm others

4. Professional behaviour

When working with clients, participants and colleagues, you must:

  • be punctual, prepared and organised for sessions and meetings

  • communicate clearly, using Plain English where possible

  • follow agreed programmes, learning outcomes and contractual obligations

  • declare conflicts of interest or potential conflicts as soon as they arise

  • maintain professional boundaries and avoid relationships that could undermine objectivity or trust

  • refrain from using your position to gain improper advantage or personal benefit

You must not:

  • engage in bullying, harassment, victimisation or intimidation

  • behave in a manner that is aggressive, threatening, belittling or humiliating

  • attend work or sessions under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs

5. Respect, inclusion and non‑discrimination

Everyone involved in R2B activities is expected to:

  • respect differences in background, identity, opinion and experience

  • avoid discriminatory language, assumptions or behaviour

  • use individuals’ correct names and pronouns where known

  • challenge or report discriminatory or hateful conduct, where safe to do so

You must not discriminate against or treat anyone less favourably on grounds such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other unjustified basis.

6. Safeguarding and safer working

Those working with or for R2B must:

  • follow R2B’s safeguarding policies and safer working practices

  • be alert to possible signs of abuse, exploitation or neglect

  • report safeguarding concerns promptly using the routes described in the safeguarding policy

  • avoid situations that place you or others at unnecessary risk (for example, unsupervised one‑to‑one situations where avoidable)

You must not ignore or dismiss safeguarding concerns or assume someone else will act.

7. Confidentiality and data protection

You must:

  • handle personal information in line with R2B’s Data Protection (GDPR) Policy

  • only access personal data that you genuinely need for your role

  • keep confidential information secure and share it only on a need‑to‑know basis

  • use secure methods for storing and sending information wherever possible

You must not:

  • disclose confidential information without proper authority or legal justification

  • misuse personal or confidential information for personal gain or to cause harm

8. Use of systems, communications and social media

When using email, messaging platforms, online tools or social media in connection with R2B work, you must:

  • be polite, professional and accurate

  • assume that written communications could be retained or shared

  • separate personal opinions from R2B’s position where relevant

  • respect confidentiality and data protection requirements

You must not:

  • share offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate material

  • post content that unlawfully discloses confidential or personal information

  • present personal views as if they are official R2B positions without authority

9. Integrity, conflicts of interest and gifts

You must:

  • act in the best interests of R2B and its clients when working in a professional capacity

  • declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest (for example, personal relationships, competing roles, financial interests)

  • recuse yourself from decisions where your impartiality could reasonably be questioned

Modest hospitality or small tokens of appreciation may sometimes be acceptable, but you must not:

  • solicit gifts or favours

  • accept gifts, hospitality or other benefits that could improperly influence, or be seen to influence, your decisions or actions

10. Health, safety and wellbeing

Everyone involved in R2B activities should:

  • take reasonable care of their own health and safety, and that of others

  • follow any health and safety instructions given by venues or R2B

  • report accidents, near misses or concerns about safety

We encourage open conversations about workload, stress and wellbeing, and will consider reasonable adjustments where possible.

11. Behaviour of participants and clients

Participants and clients engaging with R2B activities are expected to:

  • treat facilitators and other participants with respect

  • contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment

  • follow ground rules for sessions, including confidentiality and respectful discussion

  • comply with any reasonable instructions given for safety, accessibility or learning purposes

R2B may ask a participant to leave a session or refuse future bookings where behaviour is abusive, discriminatory, persistently disruptive or otherwise breaches this Code of Conduct.

12. Reporting concerns or breaches

If you become aware of behaviour that may breach this Code of Conduct, you should:

  • raise the issue with the relevant person if you feel safe and able to do so; and/or

  • report it using R2B’s Complaints and Concerns Policy or safeguarding routes, as appropriate

  • take concerns seriously

  • handle them fairly and proportionately

  • keep information as confidential as reasonably possible while we look into the issue

People who raise genuine concerns in good faith will not be victimised for doing so.

13. Consequences of breaches

Breaches of this Code of Conduct may lead to action, which could include:

  • informal discussion, advice or additional training

  • formal warnings or performance management for staff and associates

  • ending contracts or ceasing to work with particular individuals or organisations

  • removing participants from events or refusing future bookings

  • referral to external bodies (for example, professional regulators, commissioning organisations, law enforcement) in serious cases

The response will be proportionate to the nature and seriousness of the breach.

14. Monitoring and review

R2B will:

  • review this Code of Conduct at least annually, or sooner if needed

  • take into account feedback, complaints and incidents when updating the policy

  • ensure alignment with other R2B policies and relevant legal or professional standards
